KASOSA: Gawuna encourages members to come up with Development Plan
Kano State Acting Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gwauna has encouraged Members of the Kano Science Schools Old Students Association ( KASOSA ) to design a development plan that would guide the affairs of the body from now to the year 2050.
Dr. Gawuna gave the advice today Wednesday during the 2019 Annual General Meeting of the association held at Manpower Development Institute, Dutse, Jigawa State Capital.
Gawuna who is a member of the Kano Science Schools Old Students Association, observes that by developing this plan, the association would be able to come up with a document that could potray what to be achieved by the National body in the next 50 years.
” The issue of retreat is very important to the progress of this association. We have to come together and make a retreat so that we can develop a plan that will last from now to the year 2050 and let the history be during your time ” Gawuna urged the National Body.
He drew the attention of all the Members to the need of sacrifice and commitment from their own side to make the association stronger and achieve its desired objectives.
According to Gawuna, issue of sacrifice and commitment in running the affairs of an association like KASOSA should be given considerable attention, stressing that…” it is not about coming together to rejoice and make a reunion with ourselves without any commitment at the end “.
Dr. Gawuna noted with appreciation that KASOSA produces a very good representation at all sectors of human development be it civil service, politics or private organizations which he said demonstrates how powerful the association is not only in Kano but in Nigeria as a whole.
While expressing his gratitudes to the members who had been cotributing towards the development of the association, Nasiru Gawuna assured that his door would continue to remain opened in seeing that the association receives the needed support to achieve the set goals.
Earlier in his speech, the National President Kano Science Schools Old Students Association Malam Mustapha Nuhu Wali maintained that the Annual General Meeting is organized to recount the good old days of brotherly or sisterly unconditional love among the members of the great association.
” It is pertinent to mention that KASOSA has come of age and is a formidable force to reckon with despite the little shortcomings especially in the area of fulfilment of pledges made by members ” the President disclosed.
He announced that the association had recorded tremendous achievements during the period under review which include among others; the inauguration of KUT and Federal Collage of Agriculture Kano Chapters respectively and revival of Usman Danfodio University Sokoto’s Chapter.
” We have succeded in training 50 girls in entrepreneurial skill development as well as organising iftar and recitation of the Holy Qur’an during the Month of Ramadan. All the organs of the Association were able to sustain routine meetings in addition to hosting of three joint quarterly meetings with Class, Institutional Chapters and BOT ” he added.
While unveiling the asociation’s next prgrammes in view, Mustapha explained that preparations of KASOSA 2nd Retreat had reached advanced stage which would be sponsored by the Kano State Deputy Governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
During the Annual General Meeting, Alhaji Muhammad Jafar Na’abba and Malama Aisha Kasim presented papers on the contributions of KASOSA to the development of education, while Professor Aliyu Abdu, the immediate past President of KASOSA served as the papers discussant.
