Deborah who is 7 years old has won several Gold medals in the game for Bayelsa and would be representing Nigeria in the kid championship holding in Nambia.

Making the donation in Yenagoa, the governor-elect, Chief David Lyon said he is supporting the kid chess player for winning gold medals and representing the country at the early age of 7.

Speaking through his representative at the event, a one-time Commissioner of Sports, Hon. Ebitimi Amgbare said this is a way of encouraging the kid as the governor-elect is sport lover himself.

He said “David Lyon has been a lover of the youths especially the less privileged hearing Deborah case that at the age of 7 years, little Deborah has won several gold medals, he was shocked.

“Therefore as a sport lover, the governor-elect, Chief David Lyon has to step in when the notice of plea was brought to his attention. He has no choice but to support her journey to Nambia to represent Nigeria”‘, Hon. Amgbare said.

The leader noted that without education whatsoever is done will not see the end noting that education is key for the proper grooming of the kid to represent the state better.

Responding to the kind gesture of the governor-elect, the team leader of team Deborah Ada Gwegwe thanked him for his swift donation but pleaded with the Governor elect to give her an educational scholarship.

It would be recalled that Ada Gwegwe put out a press statement seeking for sponsorship for the kid chess player to enable her participate at the under 8 Chess championships.

The kid was discovered by a renowned Bayelsa-based grassroot football coach, Ada Gwegwe who have discovered several youths in different sports that have won laurels and represented Bayelsa and Nigeria at different tournaments.
