Soldiers in police net
for ‘brutalizing’ KAROTA officers
By Mukhtar Yahya Usman
Three soldiers have been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly battering some officers of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).
Kano Focus reports that trouble started when the KAROTA officials used a stick to allegedly hit and damage a tricycle (adaidaita sahu), whose rider tried to escape after beating the traffic at Kwanar Kasuwa in Municipal local government area.
Angered by the damage done to his vehicle, the tricycle rider later returned on a revenge mission with three of his military friends, who reportedly descended on the KAROTA officials and beat them to stupor.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Kano Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the soldiers had admitted that they were invited by the tricycle rider to punish the traffic officials for damaging his vehicle.
He said the police command was investigating the incident after which it would reveal “the next line of action”.
